Random? What do you think?
Man broke into a home and tried to sexually assault a woman.
Frankfort police said it happened just after 6 Friday morning at a home on Hawthorne Drive.
The victim said her husband had just left for work and she was getting ready for her day when someone broke into her home. Police said the man grabbed the woman and tried to rape her, but she was able to fight off the attacker.
Police said the attack appears to have been random. They do not have a good description of the suspect.
ran·dom
ˈrandəm/
adjective
- made, done, happening, or chosenwithout method or conscious decision.
Such as, drawing a random card out of a pile.
There are very few truly random attacks. Typically the attacker puts a location or a woman under surveillance and discovers when she is most vulnerable. It is my educated thought that the attacker saw her husband leave. Maybe she was outside with her husband before he left? Did the attacker case the neighborhood and know when she would be home alone? The attacker may live in the neighborhood and know the couples routine.
75 percent of all survivors know their assailants; 80 percent of all rapes occur in the home. 33% of sexual assaults occur between 6:00am and 6:00pm. Random attack? I don’t think so.
There are many unknowns. This simply means we don’t have the facts. It does not mean the attack was without method or conscious decision.
Get the facts, educate and empower yourself, take important action to keep yourself safe. You don’t have to gamble with your safety. #RandomAttack #ViolenceStopsHere #IAmXena
